Have a business idea or want to hear from others who do?
The Idea Exchange is a per term event in which members of the Duke community can safely present a personal business idea to a receptive audience of other community members. You may hear about something that interests you, find future business partners, or provide valuable feedback to our future entrepreneurs.
All attendees will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement and will be asked to follow a professional code of conduct that creates an environment where risk taking is promoted.
Presenters are required to bring a written executive summary OR a Powerpoint Slide show or both. The Executive Summary should not exceed 2 pages in length, and you must bring at least 20 copies. The slide show should be kept to 6 slides or fewer.
Presenters must be scheduled in advance. Contact EVCC 's Idea Exchange cabinet officers to schedule a presentation.
Attending as a member of the audience does not require an advanced sign-up. Open to all Duke schools.

Fuqua's EVCC hosts an annual Entrepreneurship Symposium , usually in Term 1 (see EVCC website for updates). Features speeches and panel by recent and prominent entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.
Fuqua's other student clubs also usually hosts annual or semi-annual symposiums of interest to entrepreneurs. For example, the Business Technology Symposium , Healthcare Symposium , etc. by the clubs of the same name.
The Intellectual Property & Cyberlaw Society (IPCS) hosts an annual “ Hot Topics ” symposium on a variety of relevant IP law topics featuring panel debates, a keynote address, and individual talks by academics and practitioners.

The Law and Your Business one-hour seminar series, offered by John Englar, Executive-in-Residence at Fuqua School of Business, is designed to alert you to legal issues which will affect your business and provide practical advice on recognizing and managing legal problems.

EVCC regularly receives information about relevant outside conferences, forums and business plan competitions hosted by other schools and organizations. Participation in these events can be a very valuable learning experience and may even yield funding.
