A. PURPOSE OF THE VICE-CHAIR FOR FINANCE

The CIERD Vice-Chair for Finance will be responsible for setting CIERD's budget, maintaining a record of transactions and expenditure, and reporting on financial matters. . They will provide recommendations to project leaders and the Vice-Chair for projects on budgetary issues. The CIERD Vice-Chair for Finance will also be responsible for preparing financial reports to university administrators and other sponsors as required.

 

B. ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare semester budgets
  • Administer the CIERD finances
  • Provide budgetary recommendations to CIERD team
  • Work closely with individual project leaders to plan budgets
  • Work with Group Chair to provide financial information to Duke administration and outside sponsors
  • Make financial report once per semester and provide this report at the general group meeting
  • Participate in planning of fundraising campaigns (if necessary)
  • Take an active part in discussions on executive group meetings

 

C. QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE PROFILE

  • Possess good writing skills
  • Show great attention to details
  • High degree of self-motivation
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience in maintaining accounts and budgets desirable
